Synthroid Medication

Synthroid is a synthetic form of the thyroid hormone known as thyroxine. The thyroid hormone of our body controls our energy and metabolism. Synthroid medication is used for the treatment of hypothyroidism - a condition where enough of hormone is not produced. What it does is to replace the hormone which is produced by our thyroid gland. This replacement theory is generally done for a life time. Synthroid medication must not be used by those who have experienced a heart attack or a disorder of thyroid known as thyrotoxicosis. This drug comes under the category A of FDA pregnancy implying its safety to use during your pregnancy or the period of breast feeding. But the dosage might need to be changed during this condition and hence you need to inform your doctor regarding it. Stop the medication as soon as you develop symptoms of allergic reactions, inflammation of face, throat or tongue and difficulty in breathing. Seek medical attention if you face any of the above problems. Some use cytomel and Synthroid for more effectiveness. Cytomel is 4 times stronger than the other drug and its dosage must be lowered when combined with cytomel.
